Marathon DJs

Great DJs and music is the most important of every event

DJ timetable - who's behind the decks right now ?

DJ Julian

United Kingdom

Julian is originally from Colombia and has been part of the salsa scene throughout all his life. He has been a Dj for the last 20 years playing at various Congresses and venues around the world. He is one of the First Salsa Dj’s who started Salsa in the U.K.

During his visit to Hong Kong where he performed in a Salsa Congress in 2008 he was awarded the certificate of participation for his outstanding performance. Julian believes Salsa is a way to bring happiness and to unite people from all backgrounds throughout music.

Que viva la SALSA!

DJ Gia Fu

Hong Kong

Gia Fu is a DJ, selector, and radio host based in Hong Kong.

She primarily focuses on digging and spinning Salsa and mambo gems everywhere she goes, also diving deep into all Afro-Latin music, disco and house grooves.

She runs the Mild Mambo Club show on Rinse FM and is an enigma in Hong Kong where she is rebranding the Salsa scene there. She recently produced a big-band salsa album in 2021 featuring over 30 artists including the likes of Tito Allen, Pulpo, Herman Olivera, Rico Walker & Primi Cruz among others.

DJ Koki

United States

DJ Koki Lizonde is a product of the beautiful and culture enriched city of Lima, Peru. Being exposed to the purest roots of culture he began dancing at the age of 5. As his love for dance expanded into a natural progression into the art of music. Live Latin Music was the fuel for this passion with local bands and concerts were the fueling station.

In search of continuous growth, in 2007 DJ Koki moved to Orlando, Florida which brought him to another humble beginning at the Universal Mambo Dance Academy. At UMDA, he would dance and provide the tunes that would keep the students inspired.

The next art form which grew in DJ Koki’s life, was the art of moving a crowd through music, for which he became a student to the craft of DJ’ing. With a strong back ground and connection to Latin Dance, his passion can be felt at many of the venues of which he currently DJs and also hosts with his event "The Hundred Social" with his business Partner Jorge Pan Sobao. The sound waves provided by DJ Koki can be felt strongly across the whole state of Florida, Nationally and internationally in Socials, Clubs, Cruises, Festivals and congresses.

DJ Sergio

France

One of the humble salsa music ambassador in Paris, he switched from CDs to Vinyl in his quest for the rare sounds and their authenticity.

“A new way to listen to, greater harmonic richness, but especially the opportunity to get my hand on yet never digitized albums and therefore very little known.”

No doubt that you will recognize easily the “Artist’s touch” through his creative musical selection. He is the organizer of the famous party LeSalsa’ Club, which takes place once a month in Paris and also the Co-organizer of “Saturday Mouaze Fever” party.

DJ Cycy

France

Cyrine aka Dj Cycy joined the new wave of parisian Djs 10 years ago. She was educated to the subtitles of latin sounds and mixing by Dj Gabriel during O'Sullivans Salsa nights, where she became co-organiser and resident Dj.

Cycy is now one of the female Djs the most required on the international Salsa scene. Also a confirmed dancer, she has a great musical sensitivity. Dj Cycy juggles with a swinging music full of diversity, always in search for the perfect sound.

She plays salsa in every style: Salsa Clasica, salsa dura, son, salsa romantica, chacha…

DJ Morena

Slovenia

Dj Morena / Katja is dancing since she is able to remember. She grew up in a dancing family, starting with ballroom and experimented ever since with different styles and music, spending countless hours on the parquet and in front of the mirror. More than ten years ago she fell in love with her greatest passion - Salsa.

Almost 7 years ago she started as a Djane at local parties until she was given a chance to play abroad and slowly became more and more internationally recognized salsa Djane.

DJ Anael

France

DJ Anael is a salsa sounds lover since more than 10 years and records collector since 2011.

In 2006, he discovered salsa, started dancing and collecting music by purchasing CDs and then Vinyl records. As a kid he received music and piano lessons, and this background gave him great listening skills, needed to discover gems songs to please the ears of dancers. Travelling to many congresses every year as a dancer, he aims to bring the same musical experience to the local salsa scene.

He started to play music for the crowds in 2012 as guest DJ, and quickly grew as the main Mambo DJ on the french riviera (Nice / Monaco). Since then, he collaborates on a regular basis with Marion Pontal (Ramark Dance Company) for events, and is invited to play in many local and french festivals (Monaco Salsa Congress / Pink Tolosa / Sund'Aix Salsa Festival / On2 is Nice / St Tropez Salsa Festival ... ). Since 2017 he runs Mambo Day afternoon socials, one sunday per month in St-Raphael.

  • "Apart from the event already being incredibly well done, what stood out the most: - Love the new bands! - Good balance in music variety - Good choice to move the soup to the new spot so one doesn't have to stand in line just for that - Loved that there is fruit with every meal now. - Out of 14 marathons so far, this one is easily in the top 3! I'll point out a few more things in the review section that require a little bit of context."

  • "The mix of dancers was so wonderful, best social dancing i may have had, awesome dancers both leaders and followers, lovely open people. The overall high level of dancing helped me personally improve my dancing much more than i would expect on a normal festival. Even after over 15 years of dancing. All on 2. Even on Sunday night the level stayed high, whereas the other prague salsa marathons before it had dropped. Sound quality was spot on. The food was so delicious! I am greatful and psyched that i was invited. Thank you Zdenek."

  • "This event is very special. What I like about the Prague marathons compared to others is the amazing combination of passionate dancers dancing to music played by passionate, experienced DJ's in a very quaint and comfortable venue, serving up very tasty buffet style meals and loads of snacks in between. I love how the snacks and meals are integrated completely with dancing area. The dancing is seemingly non-stop, starting from noon lunch/brunch until 6 AM in the morning. And perhaps the best is the general atmosphere of being relaxed and unpretentious, attended by friendly passionate dancers. Why I would recomend this event to my friends? Because it is a great way to dance a lot to really good music, to chill out with friends, and to get to know passionate salsa people much more closely than would be possible at larger, more formal salsa events."

  • "This has been one of my most favorite salsa event if not the most. First of all, the venue with nice dance floor makes it possible for us to dance for hours. The food is always plenty and deliciuos, and there always seems to be plenty of snacks to keep us going. It has the great astosphere, which reflects the personalities of the organizing team. This event should serve as a model for other marathons."

  • "Salsa Marathon was EVERYTHING! 💃🔥 Honestly can’t even pick what I enjoyed the most — the music, the people, the dancing… every single part was just pure joy! 🕺❤️ Still buzzing from all the good vibes and amazing energy. Can we do it again already?!"

  • "That was the best dance event I visited in 2021. I really enjoyed meeting up with known and unknown dancers and the high level of dancing. I have already recommended the event to many people and they were happy to have joined."

  • "What I love most about these events is that it’s 100% social dancing and you can dance for as long as you like without interruption of speaches or shows. The environment is so warm and friendly, and it’s a pure pleasure to be there. It is also one of the best places to catch up with dear old friends, and to make new ones."

  • "I was really happy to come back and feel this event like home. I'm thankful to the team and DJs for excellent work. As well, I've heard about complaints and discussions about music (and I think it always exists in all events and all communities). All of us have personal preferences and tastes in music, and I believe its greater and is greater to have different DJs at the event who are playing different styles, not only the popular trendy stuff, not only easy to dance stuff. And I have DJs I love and the ones I don't. But gives me opportunities as well. Opportunities to rest, opportunities to watch people, and learn from watching. Please keep music diversity on the marathon."

Romantic Grotta

Havlíčkovy Sady, 12000 Prague 2, Czechia

The Grotta is the main attraction of the Havlicek Gardens and looks like a fairytale with its peculiar rock formations. The artificial cave looks unusual on the building and features the arcade promenade which is quite unique in Prague. The Grotta dates back to 1871 to 1888 when it was intricately built by Moritz Grobe, a millionaire. After renovation in 2011, the cave was opened for public.
